Orwell biography Kristen
It was the pinnacle of his work and his life. But about his work and life to personally, for example, I did not know, it turns out, almost nothing. Yes, a couple of years ago I read George Orwell - the daughter of a priest, felt a wild resonance of the image of the author -bunter and this almost conservative book. The truth is that this very conservative England is shown in this book from its unsightly side.
And I realized that Orwell himself was a truth -seeker, but I did not even imagine how purposeful and ideological. It turns out that life still shook the author. So steel was tempered, otherwise it is unlikely that his life will be described in a few words. After all, he did his whole life what he considered correct. He did not become another cog in the imperial car, instead, choosing wanderings and deprivation after service in the Burma police, he returned to his homeland with an ardent anti -colonist.
He did not kneel over everything English, but eagerly defended all this. Neither verbal disputes, nor military operations with weapons in his hands, he fought in Spain and came from there with an ardent anti -Stalinist. He adored nature and mess around in the garden, at the same time he was a passionate fisherman and a hunter. In general, a person-worship. His whole life is a struggle.
And the authors were successfully able to present the history of this struggle in life in the form of a graphic novel. And even in this, they rather supported the contradictory spirit of Orwell, because he wrote: American comics - muck! Therefore, it was very ironic to me to see this quote for him in a graphic novel, which many would consider for that notorious comic book.
But most of all I was struck by the form of the narrative chosen by the authors. The whole story of the writer’s life is a mixture of bright invented paintings of life or images of his work and black and white reality. At the same time, almost half of the text in this novel is the quotes of Orwell himself, which makes the narrative as plausible as possible in my eyes.
I also really liked the drawing of two things. Firstly, everything is very realistic. Some points even show us in real photographs, and then reproduce a beautiful graphic version of maximum credibility, which is only possible in this black and white version. Secondly, all the colored inserts that so excited me turned out to be the work of invited artists.
So the author wanted to emphasize and convey the individuality of each moment, while asking to illustrate some moments of his friends.
It turned out just amazingly. After all, these images are so bright against the background of the rest of the story, so they are directly imprinted in memory. And I was also pleased to know the familiar styles of some masters, for example, Guarnido, the artist Blaxeda. I was very pleased with the reading of this book. Now I am eager to read something unknown to me from the author, in order to bite to his prose with renewed vigor in search of truth.
