I was twelve, and my grandmother was still quite young and sports. She really liked traveling in the summer in the Volga, and she often took me with her. Grandmother was very sociable and good -natured, so we did not have a problem where to spend the night. We just got on the ship, sailed to any village on the banks of the Volga and grandmother, talking with some lonely old woman, “was friends” very quickly with her and for a small fee we were allowed for the night.

We were allocated for the night some shed or an indoor barn. There we only slept, and spent a hot day on the Volga, bathed and sunbathed. Somehow, once, the same way, we arrived in one picturesque village on the river bank. It was morning, and my grandmother, having talked with one friendly woman about 30 years old, first bought milk from her, and then agreed on the night. We were covered in a small shed, and we got a great job.

And the hospitable Galina called our new housewife and invited us with home honey to drink. When we drank tea, the husband of the hostess returned, Vadim, a very large man with dark skin. Galina said that her previous husband died, and this one, Oleg, is the second husband. And the boy was small, about four years old. We drank tea, went to the shed, spent the night, and in the morning we went to the Volga to collect strawberries until it was hot.

Then it began to warm the sun, we went down to the river to swim. I got sick with the local girls, they asked where we stopped to spend the night. I said that Aunt Galina and Uncle Vadim had ... But, when I said about it, the girls suddenly fell silent, and then looked at each other in dismay. When I asked why such a reaction, they didn’t want to tell for a long time, but then everyone told the story, after which I wanted to leave this village as soon as possible from this village, the girls said that, indeed, this Galina had the first husband of Yegor.

But, being married, Galina fell in love with Vadim, a friend of Yegor, with whom he lives now, and who treated us with honey and tea yesterday. A terrible conflict occurred, the men even fought. However, little by little calmed down, Galina and Vadim “realized” her mistake. Vadim even forgive Egor’s forgiveness to ask: “Let's forget everything, let's again be friends” Yegor forgave Vadim, and from that moment they became especially inseparable.

Together they were fishing, they collected mushrooms, they often went to visit each other. This went on for six months, and in May they together, being already bosom friends, went to the Volga, to the middle of the river to catch fish. Vadim returned back alone, all wet. Crying and shaking, he told how Yegor, trying to unhook the fishing line from the fish, accidentally slipped and fell out of the boat.

Vadim tried to save him, but, apparently, he went to the bottom with a stone. Of course, the police came, asked, all the houses went around, and looked for a motive. But all the neighbors unanimously claimed that recently the men were inseparable, were friends and, in general, there were no water, no one experienced hostility to anyone ...

They decided that the death of Yegor was just an accident. The body was never found, apparently carried away by the current.
